Lead product designer, Sydney.
Seven years in enterprise SaaS.

About

I'm Murray, a lead product designer based in Sydney, Australia.

I started in graphic design and advertising, moved into digital agencies doing UI and UX work across government, education, and enterprise clients, and eventually found my way into product design, which is where I've been for the past seven-plus years.

Most of my career has been in enterprise SaaS. I've designed contact centre tools for agents under pressure, platform-level navigation used across an entire product portfolio, and AI features shipped before most of the category had caught up. The throughline is complex operational software where the interface has to absorb a lot of complexity without passing it on to the user.

How I work

I care about craft, but I define craft broadly. The screens matter, obviously. But so does the argument that got the team aligned on the right direction, the research that grounded the decision, the operating rhythm that kept the work moving, and the relationship with engineering that determined whether the design actually shipped as intended.

I prototype in code when Figma isn't the right tool for testing an idea. I use AI tools daily, not as a shortcut but as a way to raise the ceiling on what I can produce and how quickly I can get to the interesting problems. I think the role of product designer is changing, and I'd rather be ahead of that shift than reacting to it.
